Katsina Children Parliament elects Fadila Sani as speaker
Fadila Sani, 14, from Government Girls Secondary School Sandamu has emerged as the first female Speaker for the Katsina Children Parliament.
Fadila was also selected as Katsina ‘Girls Champion’ for Save the Children International.
She emerged winner of the election for the office of Speaker after beating two other contestants, Al-Mustapha Umar and Sumaiya Ismail.
Others elected to represent the Katsina Children Parliament in the 5th Assembly include Deputy Speaker Sadiq Sani Garba, House Leader Muhammed Aminu, House Clerk Aisha Bashir, Chief Whip Al-Mustapha Umar and David Henry Ola as Mace Bearer.
Addressing the audience shortly after taking the oath of office at the Katsina State House of Assembly Complex, Fadila assured that the 5th Assembly shall advocate, sensitize, campaign and pool all resources within its powers at every given opportunity towards the attainment of laudable reforms for children in the state.
The new speaker, however, noted that the 5th Assembly of the Katsina Children Parliament will pursue the implementation of the Katsina Child Protection Bill as well as see to the review and implementation of all existing child-related and child-sensitive policies, laws and programmes in the state
