BREAKING: Ibezim Sworn In As Imo-North Senator
Popular businessman, Frank Ibezim has been sworn in as the lawmaker to represent Imo-North Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
TrackNews Online reports that Ibezim, who replaced the late Benjamin Uwajumogu who died last year, was sworn in by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, on Tuesday.
Recall that the bye-election to fill the vacant seat was held some months ago. The Independent National Electoral Commission declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the election, but it did not declare any specific person as the occupant of the seat.
The issue lingered between Ifeanyi Ararume and Ibezim before the Supreme Court declare Ibezim as the winner.
Last week, INEC issued Certificate of Return (CoR) to Ibezim to represent the people of Imo North Senatorial District.
This was confirmed by the INEC National Commissioner in charge of Publicity and Voter Education. Festus Okoye.
He said that he was given the Certificate of Return at exactly 1 pm by INEC National Commissioner, Prof. Okechukwu Ibeanu.
