Buhari congratulates David Onuoha, the new president of the Christian Council of Nigeria
President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Most Rev David Onuoha, the Anglican Archbishop of Owerri Province.
The clergyman has been elected as the new President of the Christian Council of Nigeria.
The CCN is one of five groups that comprise the Christian Association of Nigeria.
Onuoha was elected at Enugu’s Andrew’s Basilica Trans Ekulu during the 31st General Assembly/93rd CCN Anniversary.
Buhari said the victory affirms the Archbishop’s spiritual fervour, sound theological training and passion for ecumenical unity in Nigeria.
In a statement by spokesman Femi Adesina, he recalled their last interaction during his visit to Imo in September 2021.
The President commended Onuoha’s “unfailing devotion” to the country’s unity and prosperity, as well as his counsel for those in authority.
Buhari wished the convener of the annual ‘Imo Prays’ success as he leads the CCN for the next three years.
