Buratai Charges Troops To End Banditry In Zamfara

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Burutai, has charged officers and men of the One Brigade of Nigerian Army relocated to Gusau, Zamfara State to rededicate themselves to fight against banditry in the state.

Burutai, who spoke through, Maj-Gen. Hakeem O Otiki, Commanding Officer, Infantry Corps of the Nigerian Army at official commissioning of the headquarters of the One Brigade complex in Gusau, Zamfara State capital.

He said with the presence of the Brigade in the state, the war against banditry by the army would be more intensified.

According to him, the decision for the relocation of the Brigade to Zamfara was to improve security situation as the banditry constitute serious worry to the people with of the state.

He reiterated the commitment of the military to end banditry in the state, stressing that, the army would have synergy with other security agencies in handling banditry activities.

In his remarks, General Officer Commanding 8th Division, Sokoto, Maj-Gen. Stevenson Olabanji, said the relocation of the One Brigade to Zamfara came at a point when the state was facing security challenges.

The GOC who doubles as the force commander of the Operation Sharan Daji said, soldiers in the Brigade would add value to the activities of the operation Sharan Daji.

The secretary to the State Government, Prof Abdullahi Shinkafi, who represented governor Abdul-Aziz Yari, welcome the relocation of the Brigade to the state.

He expressed determination of the state government to give all necessary support to the military and other security operatives in the state against bandits.
