Chief Dumebi Kachikwu, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Candidate for 2023, has expressed reservations about the threat by some opposition senators to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari, calling it self-serving, TrackNews reports.
Kachikwu stated this in an Abuja statement on Thursday.

“I was amused to hear some Senators and lower-house members call for the President’s impeachment.” This is a self-serving request. People who have refused to do their jobs for the last three years have only recently realized that the President should be impeached.

“What exactly has happened today that is different from what has happened since President Buhari was sworn in for the first time seven years ago and again three years ago?” Are today’s attacks any different? Are the deaths less or more significant?

“Is one life more valuable than the other?” Are they acting now because Abuja is under attack? Because the national assembly is complicit in this government’s failure, they should call on their leadership to resign before calling on Buhari to resign.

“Our constitution’s checks and balances never imagined that Nigerians would be saddled with a spineless and self-serving legislature.” Yes, Buhari has failed and should resign or be impeached, but he failed because the legislature failed to do its job,” he said.

“The entire leadership of the National Assembly should also resign or be impeached,” Kachikwu added.

“This is the double-edged sword known as collective responsibility doctrine.”
