Some Nigerians have taken to social media to criticize the redesign of the N200, N500, and N1,000 notes, claiming the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) did a poor job.

President Muhammadu Buhari unveiled the new notes on Wednesday.

Many Nigerians, however, took to social media to criticize the new designs.

Shehu Sani tweeted, “If it’s Naira color, the CBN should have just engaged Snapchat.”

“So, 10, 20, and 50?” Ebuka Obi-Uchendu wondered.

“If I buy water color, all I have to do is paint over the old notes to get these new ones,” Tayo Faniran explained.

“Who colored graded these bills?” Taaooma was curious. “Is the printer’s ink running low?”

“I now believe there is something wrong with this country,” Bbnaija Khloe said.

“Is this what the CBN referred to as redesign?” YKEEZY, for example, tweeted. The 1k is a good small sha, but the #200 resembles an old #500 and vice versa. This naira note is not amusing in the least. Finish up like printer toner.”

“#CBNAgain: redesigned Naira notes in summary; – The 1k was soaked with Blue- So CBN used Hypo to get new color for The 200 naira – The 500 Naira was achieved with Snapchat filter Thunder Faya the CBN Governor – Emefiele and the rest for this waste of money,” one ‘Communicator of Ilorin’ wrote.

“Many counterfeit notes will flood the market with the introduction of the new #Naira notes,” said Dr.Charles Odogwu. I hope the CBN will take steps to ensure efficient distribution of new notes and effective counterfeit note control. Guys, beware of counterfeit naira notes. Make your eyes shine.

“From the looks of things, these new notes appear to be counterfeit,” tweeted Abbey. Guys! Prepare to see a large number of counterfeit notes in circulation very soon. CBN’s new notes were a colossal failure. Why not poll the public before printing this bogus currency? The 1k.”

Savn “NEW CURRENCY: These guys who make counterfeit currency will have no trouble reproducing the new (re)designed naira notes,” Daniel observed. It is a waste of time and resources.

“With this new naira note, counterfeiters will have it easy,” Chief Ikukuoma tweeted.
