Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested one Afolabi Taiwo in Abioro community, Sango, in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state, for allegedly attempting to carry out a felony.

The command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, who disclosed this on Friday, said the incident occurred on November 1, 2023, “when Afolabi jumped into the compound of the complainant in Abioro Street.”

She said Afolabi was apprehended by the police, with the assistance of the So-Safe Corps, “after attempting to carry out a felony.”

Odutola stated that the complainant raised the alarm that drew the attention of neighbours, leading to Afolabi’s arrest at the scene.

“During his subsequent interrogation, Afolabi confessed to being a member of the outlawed Eiye Confraternity Cult Group. He confessed that he was initiated into the cult in 2020 in Ajah, Lagos State,” Odutola explained.

According to Odutola, the disclosure is significant as it would allow the police to gather further intelligence and accelerate efforts to apprehend other members implicated by Afolabi’s statement.

She commended the joint operation between the police and the So-Safe Corps, which resulted in the arrest of Afolabi and foiled his alleged attempt to commit a felony.
