Perform or get sacked, minister tells NDDC board
Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Abubakar Momoh, has warned the new board of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to either perform or get the boot.
He gave the riot act yesterday while inaugurating the Chiedu Ebie-led board in Abuja.
The minister explained that the current administration had a template to measure performance and sanction appropriately.
He said: “And it is also necessary for you to know that this administration is quite different from others because there is going to be a lot of supervision and monitoring for us to deliver.
“And some of these deliverables have been assigned to various agencies under our supervision, of which NDDC is one.
“And to that essence, you are expected to work towards delivering on those areas.
“And in order to do that as the supervisory ministry, we are also there to assist you and guide you.”
Momoh stated that board members would be made to sign performance bond like ministers.
This, he said, would be done during a proposed retreat board members and management team.
On the need to change the negative perspective about the commission, the minister stated: “We are all aware that over time, there has been a lot of complaints about NDDC.”
