PYC Urge Bayelsans to be Mindful of The Various Law and Their Provisions on Defamation and Cyber Stalking
Without prejudice to the ongoing investigations and any possible further legal procedures on the recent arrest of one Mr. Jonah Daumieye over criminal allegations bothering on Cyber stalking and possibly tortious liabilities of Defamation of Character, the Prosperity Youth Coalition (PYC) has come out to advise Bayelsan youths to be careful of their activities over the social media and the internet generally.
The advise of the popular political group is as contained in a statement issued by the Secretary -General Ayebakuro Igbeta Esq, which addressed the recent arrest of one Mr. Jonah Daumieye for allegedly stalking on the person of the Director-General of the PYC, Snr-Comr. Doubara Kumokou by posting libelous articles over various social media platforms.
The statement reads in part as follows “Bayelsa youths must know where to draw the line between content creation on social media and stepping on the fundamental rights of other citizens, we seem to refuse to recognize the legal rights of others, especially the image of public or famous persons when posting or show casing our creativity online.
Sometimes, we must take that pause to consult Legal minds on salient issues particularly when the content touches on the lives, character or actions of others in society, without prejudice to his rights under the various legal frameworks, Mr. Jonah on the present matter must pray hard to his God not to be found wanting as he may then become a very useful scapegoat in driving home the position we now try to explain.

As youths we should refuse to be excited by social media likes, comments and repost, so as not to be dragged into unpleasant situations such as what Daumieye now finds himself”
The PYC however is confident that Mr. Jonah Daumieye will be accorded his every right and privilege available under the Law as the complainant in the matter is known to be a respecter of the Law hence will not do anything to circumvent justice in the matter both at the investigations and trial (if it comes to that stage).
The statement closed with a call on youths to try everything within their might to avoid unnecessary troubles and remain on the right side of the Law.
