Shun sharp practices – Kogi CJ warns judiciary officers

Kogi State Acting Chief Judge, Justice Josiah Majebi has warned all judicial officers and other staff of judiciary across the State to shun all forms of corruption.
Justice Majebi gave the charge while speaking at Ankpa Custodial Centre of Nigeria Correctional Service during a decongestion tour of Correctional Service Centres in Kogi State.
He decried the delay in the administration of criminal justice, stressing that under no circumstance should a case whose accused person had been detained, be adjourned more that 7 days.
He warned Judicial officers that if their arises a need to adjourn more than seven days, the magistrates or judges must write to inform the Director in their zone the reason it must be so.
The Chief Judge lamented that frivolous adjournments had always hampered the process of administration of criminal justice, stressing that “Justice delayed is Justice denied”.
He commended Kogi State for recording low crime rate, noting that the State Judiciary had just applied only 40 percent law of the Administration of Criminal Justice system.
“I was was very impressed that none of our correctional centres is congested at all. So we are happy for that. We want thank to the governor of the State, Governor Yahaya Bello for his understanding by putting in place logistics and facilities to ensure that the stakeholders in the administration of criminal justice in the State are meeting regularly and constantly,” he said
