After the inauguration, the Chairman, in a press briefing, said, the Councilors must be of good conduct and that been a Councilor does not mean, staying, and waiting to collect salaries. He said, “Our functionality depends largely on the bye-laws they’ll make, and they’re happy they have a Chairman that has once been an Assembly Member, I’ll be guiding them.

“Now this is a Local Government Headquarters, and it’s like a la dolce vita society without laws, and i have come like a head master with a cain that will follow up these bye-laws to the latter to implement them and i think God willing, we’re going to take Southern Ijaw to a greater level”.

Addressing issues of development in conjunction with the House, he said, “I am the Chief Executive Officer, but i can not spend money without their permission, that means whatever money that will be spent, i have to fall back to them and then development will come. One thing i think that spured me to this position was that i have something inside of me to show, and the opportunity has been given to me to manifest, so they don’t have a choice than to work with me so we can move this Local government beyond the level it is today”.

The Chairman finally addressed issues concerning party affiliations in terms of his administration. He opined that as a clue from his boss, His Excellency Sen. Douye Diri who pronounced in his inaugural speech that he will form a government that will transcend party lines and which transpired in the formation of his cabinet hitherto, that, that is exactly the same thing he will bring to the local government, an administration devoid of PDP or APC but for the development of Southern Ijaw. He said he will promote peace and unity and make his appointment across all party lines to ensure he achieves his vision, the Consolidation for Prosperity Mandate.
