SOUTHERN IJAW RESTORATION CAUCUS PAY CONDOLENCE VISIT TO GOV. DICKSON

The Southern Ijaw Restoration Caucus led by its chairman and the chief Staff Government House Rt. Hon. Talford Ongolo on Friday, 24th August,2018 led a delegation to express their condolence to Governor Seriake Dickson over the death of his mother , Mrs. Goldcoast Dickson.

Hon. Ongolo who expressed deepest shock over the news of the death of the Governor’s mother said the Southern Ijaw Restoration Caucus will kick-start the process and support the foundation laying for the cancers awareness and screening centre in honour of the Governor’s mother to further join voice with the governor for his advocacy against the scourge of cancer in the State and nation. Present at the meeting, the speaker of Bayelsa state House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Konbowei Friday, the immediate past permanent secretary federal ministry of Power Amb. Godknows Boladei Igali, also in attendance, the member representing Southern Ijaw federal constituency Hon. Henry Daniel Ofongo, Hon. Prince Doodei Week, the council Caretaker chairman Hon. Nigeria Kia as well as the members representing southern Constituency 1,2 and 3 Hon. Kate Owoko, Hon. Monday Obolo and, Baraladei Daniel Igali, traditional rulers, women leaders, youths leaders where part of the delegation.

Governor Seriake Dickson who received the Caucus delegation in his residence in Toru-Orua commended the kind gesture of Southern Ijaw Restoration Caucus to have showed extreme concern of his grieve , also expressed concern over the alarming effects of environmental pollution, particularly in the Niger Delta region resulting in some terminal ailments such as cancer.

The Governor described cancer as “a major health challenge almost reaching the point of an epidemic in this country, especially in the Niger Delta area.

Recalling the relationship he shared with his mother, the governor described his mother as a subtle, simple, kindhearted and a generous woman who lived a fulfilled life.

“My mother is just not my mother,but a subtle, simple, kind hearted, and generous woman.
