Sowore Slams Adeboye Over Calls For Spiritual Solutions To Nigeria’s Problems

presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has criticised Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), for promoting spiritual solutions as the remedy to Nigeria’s socio-economic and political crisis.

Sowore made his remarks on a programme “Sokanwa Special” on Agidigbo 88.7 FM, Ibadan, on Sunday.

In his submission, Sowore accused Adeboye and other prominent religious leaders of misleading Nigerians by pushing prayer as the answer to the country’s challenges, while they themselves rely on physical wealth and material comfort.

According to Sowore, the real issues facing Nigeria cannot be solved by prayer alone.

“If Pastor Adeboye is sick, does he treat himself with prayer? When he wants to travel, does he use prayer? No, he uses a private jet,” Sowore said, questioning the inconsistency between the lifestyle of religious leaders and the spiritual solutions they advocate for their followers.

Sowore also referenced Pastor David Oyedepo, the founder of Winners Chapel, who recently celebrated his 70th birthday and received two Rolls Royce cars as gifts. He criticised the idea that prayer alone could solve Nigeria’s problems when many religious leaders are benefiting from immense wealth and influence.

“Why didn’t they say it’s prayer Baba needs? These pastors don’t suffer themselves; their children are securing contracts in Abuja while preaching that Nigeria’s problems are spiritual,” Sowore remarked.

He expressed frustration with the message being delivered by some Christian leaders, arguing that they use religion to deceive and pacify their followers, while they actively engage in politics and business behind the scenes.

Sowore further warned that religious leaders are distracting Nigerians from focusing on practical solutions to the nation’s problems.

He predicted that if this trend continues, the influence of these leaders could diminish as Nigerians begin to see through the deceit.

“When Jesus returns, the first people He will be angry with are the religious leaders because they’ve turned religion into a tool for deceit,” Sowore stated.

He concluded by urging Nigerians to focus on addressing real-world issues like governance, economic reform, and social justice, rather than relying solely on spiritual solutions.
