TEN BAYELSA, RIVERS COMMUNITIES DRAG NDDC TO FEDERAL HIGH COURT OVER YEARS OF NEGLECT

Ten oil producing communities in Bayelsa and Rivers States have instituted a legal case against the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, at the Federal High Court, Onopa, Yenagoa, over what they called years of abandonment and neglect in terms of development despite the huge volume of crude oil and gas derived from the communities for the past years.

The nine communities from Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State and one from Ahoada West Council Area of Rivers State are asking the court to compel the NDDC to pay all that is due them, accrued over the years in line with the sharing formula and ensure the full implementation of the provisions of the NDDC act in the communities.
