Timipre Sylva awarded traditional title in Buhari’s hometown
Timipre Sylva, Minister of State for Petroleum, will be turbaned with the traditional title of “Sarkin Kudun Hausa” by the Daura Emirate Council.
HRH Umar Farouk Umar, Emir of Daura, bestowed the honor.
President Muhammadu Buhari, a native of Daura in Katsina State, issued a statement on Friday through his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, in response to the news.
Sylva’s “versatile and cross-cultural experiences, schooling, working, and sharing wisdom in various parts of the country and the world,” according to Shehu, earned her the title.
Buhari believes Sylva’s acceptance highlights the importance of religious and cultural tolerance, understanding, and networking in order to maintain the country’s unity.
The Nigerian president thanks the Daura Emirate Council for its support for his administration.
“President Buhari prays for the Minister and his family’s well-being,” the statement continued.
