Troops kill scores of ISWAP terrorists in failed attack in Yobe
Troops of 27 Task Force Brigade, Operation Hadin Kai, have reportedly neutralized scores of ISWAP terrorists in a failed attack staged along the Buni Yadi axis in Yobe State, last Monday.
A Security Source told Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in the Lake Chad region that, the terrorists came on motorcycles to the outskirt of the town at about 6:21pm and fired several mortar bombs targeting the military base but the bombs fell in different directions without recording any impact.
The sources said on sighting the vigilant troops, the terrorists fled toward the axis of Goniri and were then engaged in a gun battle, resulting in the extermination of scores of the terrorists while others took to their heels due to superior firepower from the dogged troops.
One of the sources further disclosed that the terrorists were later sighted evacuating dead bodies oftheir fighters.
“This was their second failed attack on our troops. Last week, they claimed to have fired 5 mortar shells at our base and claimed that, it a was victory despite landing in the bushes.
“They wanted to try their luck today and they lost badly,” he said
