During fighting patrols aimed at suspected bandit hideouts in Kaso Village, Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State, troops of Operation Forest Sanity rescued nine kidnapped people.
The troops engaged the bandits on the Tantatu high ground as they abandoned their camp and fled further into the forest, according to operational feedback to the Kaduna State Government.
During the operation in the bandits’ camp, troops rescued nine kidnapped people who were being held hostage by the bandits.
In a statement, Kaduna state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the development, saying that initial debriefing of the rescued victims revealed that they were kidnapped around the Gurara Dam area.
According to the commissioner, the nine rescued people will be debriefed and examined further before being reunited with their families.
He also stated that the troops recovered 90 rustled cattle left behind by the fleeing bandits, and that the animals would be turned over to the Kaduna State Livestock Regulatory Authority for proper identification.
