Adegboyega Oyetola, Governor of Osun State, has expressed confidence in Ilesa University’s ability to meet the expectations of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization.

Governor Oyetola expressed this belief in his office while receiving the report of the university of Ilesa implementation committee, led by professor Ol Aina.

Speaking about what influenced his administration’s decision to approve the conversion of Osun State College of Education to a full-fledged university, the governor highlighted numerous multibillion Naira projects carried out by the Ijesas through collaborative efforts, urging other towns to follow suit.

“A community that builds a palace without asking other people to contribute to it, lo and behold, within a short period of time, they have a center worth about 1. 2 billion naira,” he says. They have demonstrated beyond any reasonable doubt that if every community has this level of passion for development, whatever they ask for should be granted automatically.”

He went on to say that funding would not be an issue for the university because the law that established it was based on collaboration between the government, community, stakeholders organizations, and industries.

“I thank team member professor Ol Aina for a fantastic job well done, it is on record that the university was processed within 3 to 4 months and I want to assure you that we will ensure implementation of all your recommendations here, the beauty of this one is that it is not just a conventional university, it is designed to take care of professionalism, that is mining, agriculture, health sciences, ICT and things like that.”
