We’re Ready To Pass 2024 Budget Next Week ~ Abbas

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Honourable Tajudeen Abbas, has announced the scheduled passage of the 2024 budget on Saturday, December 30, 2023, as the House resumed plenary on Tuesday, December 19.
The declaration came as Abbas relayed a message from the Committee on Appropriations to various House committees, emphasizing the urgency for their swift conclusion of budget defence sessions with government agencies.
Abbas outlined the imperative for committees to finalize and submit their reports from budget defence sessions by 8 pm on December 19, 2023.
He stressed the significance of expediting the process for subsequent budget-related activities such as compilation, processing, and harmonization within the stipulated timeframe.
He added that the House is committed to ensuring timely deliberation and passage of the 2024 budget.
He noted that as the House resumes its sessions, the focus remains on ”expediting the budget process, upholding the legislative mandate, orchestrating effective budgetary measures, and fostering efficient governance for the nation in the upcoming fiscal year.”
