‘Wike Wants To Control His Base For Tinubu’s Next Election’ – Prof Akinterinwa
A Professor of International Relations at Achievers University, Bola Akinterinwa, has reacted to the alleged feud between the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Akinterinwa, in an interview on Arise TV, hinted that Wike’s feud with his successor, Fubara, is to control the structure of the State ahead of the next election.
He claimed that Wike despite being a minister wants to take hold of the state for the benefit of President Bola Tinubu’s second term in office.
Tracknews Media recalls that there were moves last week to impeach the Rivers State Governor over alleged differences with his political godfather.
Akinterinwa further stated that Wike is concerned about his influence and does not want his influence to decline.
Speaking on the political crisis in Rivers, Akinterinwa said, “I think that we should borrow from Philip Asiodu, that elder statesman, who said if you make political offices unattractive, people would sit down.
“And I think that the moment when a school certificate earner, who was elected, I was even told that school certificate earner, he was wounded; quote and unquote, he was telling a Professor that if you want to earn more money, you want to earn N120,000 come and join politics.
“And he was telling a Professor that time, that is why you will see that Wike does not want to lose his influence, he doesn’t want to see his influence decline there.
“He is already a Federal Minister, but he is already targeting the next election, he wants to be able to win, to control the base for the purposes of the Tinubu era.”
