Ex-wife of richest man in Russia demands additional $6 billion from divorced husband
Natalia Potanina, the ex-wife of Russian Oligarch and richest man, Vladimir Potanin, is demanding as much as $6 billion from her ex-husband after overturning a court case in the UK.
The couple divorced in 2014 and Natalia was accused of “Divorce Tourism” which she successfully overturned this week. She is demanding $6 billion from her ex-husband. If she succeeds, it will be the biggest divorce payout in UK history.
She initially received $41.5 million from her ex-husband when they divorced in 2014 in Russia. The couple was married for 31 years.
Who is Vladimir Potanin?
Vladimir Potanin is the richest man in Russia with a staggering net worth of $33.5 billion. He benefited from the historical privatization of Russian assets in 1995 under President Boris Yeltsin.
He owns the largest stake in Norilsk Nickel PJSC which is the world’s largest producer of high-grade nickel.
He also owns interests in insurance, media, agriculture, engineering, and oil.
He is a close friend to Russian President, Vladimir Putin.
