Nkpogone said teachers must be given special attention for them to perform the ” surgery “of getting to the ” heart of Education Recovery ”

According to the state NUT Chairman, the union “observed that promotion of UBE teachers for the years 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 had been conducted, results released and letters issued but the financial implementations and arrears of the promotions are yet to be paid”.

On conducted of promotion interview the NUT boss pointed out ” that promotion and its financial implication is one of the statutory rights a worker has and a source of motivation of such a worker. Any worker whose promotion doesn’t come as at when due is downcasted and may not be willing to put in his or her best.

Nkpogone also said it was ” embarrassing and worrisome” that promotion interviews for 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 have not been conducted.

He appealed to the Rivers State government to address their demands.
