JUST-IN/ IYC condemns killing of a farmer by suspected Herdsmen.
Chairman of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Central Zone, Clever Inodu on Tuesday, condemned in totality the gruesome killing of an innocent male farmer, at Zarama community of Yenagoa LGA by suspected herders.
Reports had it that the deceased who hails from Zarama had been carrying out his farming activities until his untimely death yesterday, whose body was found this morning.
We expressed displeasure at these reoccurrences despite the state government’s efforts in combating insecurity in the state. These killings are not only painful but unacceptable to Ijaw people.
Herdsmen who are still in the habit of straying into Bayelsa territory should be warned that there is a law banning open grazing in the state which must be obeyed by all.
We want to urge the people of Zarama to remain calm and law abiding, we are assuring that we shall work with the government and security agencies in doing everything possible to ensure that the killer-herdsmen are caught and brought to book.
We commiserate with the family and the people of Zarama on this ugly incident.
As responsibilities of Council to protect defend our Ijaw territories, council is assuring our people that, this will not be swept under the carpet, as Council is going to respond squarely after thorough investigation, as the Ijaw man has never been conquered.
