Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

Nigerians have taken to social media to express their outrage over the Federal Government of Nigeria’s purchases from the indigenous vehicle manufacturing company, Innoson.
According to Tracknews , the Federal Government approved a contract with an indigenous motor company, Innoson, on Wednesday to supply 21 vehicles to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information, made this known to journalists at the conclusion of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at Aso Rock Villa, which was presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.

He confirmed that the “contract was in favour of Messrs Innoson Manufacturing Company for the sum of N660,422,220, and it consists of 20 pick-up vehicles and 1 City Bus.”

According to him, “the contract was awarded to Innosons Motors in the spirit of encouraging our local industries.”

Netizens reacted to the news by lamenting the number of vehicles purchased by the federal government, while others praised the FG for being very supportive of Nigerian-made products.

Nigerians React: ‘Is that a contract?’ wrote Awoigwekalu. What are the 21 vehicles for? Is it for garri, or an eba?!’

‘So each pickup is over 30 million, too small,’ wrote Aim neche739.

‘Better late than never, weldone FG,’ wrote home banquet nig.

‘Let us continue to support our very own,’ wrote marauniquestore.
“Like we sounding as if they are doing him a favor,” Iyunade beads wrote. Someone intelligent and hardworking with an African mentality.”

“Oga if you do not see your money for hand complete nor supply anything oo,” percious.amengiglue wrote.

“Support Nigerian Businesses!!!” wrote Oluchi Assumani.

ayomultichoice wrote: ‘However, this is not the first time the Federal Government has patronized Innosson. Governors and legislators should also follow suit.’

‘The Ambulances honestly look great,’ wrote kiarexglitz. They appear to be high quality.’

‘This is the best thing Buhari has ever done!!’ wrote snehgodson.
