7Presidential hopeful and media entrepreneur, Dele Momodu has asked the Federal Government to find a lasting solution to the suffering in the South East.

Momodu, the publisher of Ovation Magazine, made the submission in a post on his verified Facebook page on Wednesday, TrackNews reports

He advised the Muhamadu Buhari-led government to reach an agreement with Igbo leaders in order to release the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, from detention.

Kanu, who is currently in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS), is facing charges bordering on terrorism and treasonable felony.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain pointed out that lack of agreement between the government and the Igbo leaders had resulted in suffering in Igboland.

Momodu noted that the suffering in Igboland is absolutely excruciating and highly regrettable.

He also commended the release of Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, by authorities in the Benin Republic.

He wrote, “Multiple sources have told me CHIEF SUNDAY IGBOHO ADEYEMO has told them of my nocturnal visit to him in Cotonou… For me, it was not a big deal.

“I remember how many Nigerians risked everything to support me when I was arrested and detained at ALAGBON LAGOS in 1993 over the June 12 crisis. I have just read the report of my visit on Opera News and am truly humbled.

“Nigerian leaders have a lot to learn from The Madiba DR NELSON MANDELA in seeking for peace and reaching out to those who are not happy with the unnecessary division and the breakdown of law and order in many parts of our great country…

“I’m asking the Federal Government to speedily reach an amicable settlement with Igbo leaders over MAZI NNAMDI KANU. The suffering in Igboland as a result of this impasse is absolutely excruciating and highly regrettable…”
