TRACKING >The Northern Youth Council has described the formation of the Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN) known as Amotekun as an illegal group formed in the same way as the Indigenous Peoples Of Biafra (IPOB) and must be stopped immediately.
In a statement by its National President, Alhaji Isah Abubakar, urged President Buhari and the National Security Adviser including the Military to ensure the network is contained immediately.
Abubakar declared that Amotekun is a military arm of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) and pose a threat to the sovereignty of Nigeria and national security.
“Amotekun group in Southwest is OPC Military wing in disguise and in the same league with the proscribe IPOB. The President must not allow this unconstitutionality to prevail, ” he said in Kaduna.
On Thursday, Southwest Governors gathered in Oyo State to officially launch the security network to curtail the growing insecurity in the region.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum and Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi declared at the event that the network is to assist the security agencies in the region and won’t be replacing them nor will it bear arms.
