Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, the All Progressives Congress’s Abia State Gubernatorial candidate for the 2023 general elections, has praised women’s contributions to governance and nation-building.

He observed that nothing meaningful in society can be accomplished without the presence and participation of women in human and developmental endeavors, and he advocated for women to be empowered to contribute their ideas, service, and resources to any cause.

He observed that women approach any task with zeal, total commitment, and ingenuity to ensure that only the best results are obtained.

On Tuesday, Ogah, the former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, stated that it has become critical for the country’s electorates to install leaders who believe completely in working with women and not relegating them to the background.

“It is also critical that we bring our women into the spotlight because their successes and achievements have a far-reaching impact on our society.”

“Brigham Young said that when you educate a woman, you train a nation.” “To all intents and purposes, we can see that everything he said was true and still is,” he added.

To strengthen the position of our women, particularly in Abia State, the frontline Abia APC governorship candidate stated that deliberate policies will be formulated and implemented to ensure that girl children are educated and rural women are offered adult education.

“This is the first step toward empowering our women,” said Ogah.

The ex-minister also stated that the Beijing Declaration of 35 percent Affirmative Action on Women’s Inclusion in Politics, Elections, and Appointments, to which Nigeria signed, will be domesticated in Abia State.

“It will be raised to 45 percent in order to signal the mainstreaming of women into high-level positions of authority,” Ogah promised.

“As a firm believer in our women’s sublime abilities, I’m making it abundantly clear to all and sundry that the women of Abia State are in for a historic stint by the time we are in government to deliver excellence to all Abians, which will be predicated on the relentless and ever committed qualities and resources of Abia women,” the APC chieftain said.
