OBA The paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Sikiru Kayode Adetona, has praised Globacom for hosting a spectacular 2022 edition of the Ojude Oba Festival.

Adetona, who spoke at the event in Ijebu-Ode on Monday, said the company’s sponsorship of the festival since 2006 has added significant value to the annual cultural carnival.

He mentioned that Globacom’s festival promotion, royal banquet, music show, and beauty pageant made this year’s edition spectacular. Dr. Mike Adenuga Jnr., the company’s Chairman, he said, is an icon who promotes Nigeria’s value systems and cultures.

Mr Yomi Ogunbamowo, Globacom’s representative at the festival, stated that the company’s continued collaboration with the Ojude Oba Festival Committee demonstrates its commitment to celebrating the best of Nigerian culture and tradition and preserving them for posterity.

“We believe in providing platforms for our country’s diverse peoples to fully express their cultures and traditions.” With the advent of globalization, this has become even more convenient. Our cultures are an important part of our history, and they must be preserved.”

Egbe Obayori Okunrin Asiwaju won N500,000 in the Regberegbe competition, which was one of the highlights of Globacom’s sponsorship of the festival, while Egbe Tobalase Okunrin and Egbe Bobamayegun won N300,000 and N200,000, respectively, as first and second runners-up in the male category. Egbe Bobamayegun Obinrin Asiwaju took first place, with Egbe Arobayo Obinrin and Egbe Tobalase Obinrin finishing second and winning the same prizes as their male counterparts.

Balogun Kuku won the Balogun contest for their horsemanship skills and dexterity, while Balogun Odunuga and Balogun Gamugasa came in second and third place, winning N500,000, N300,000, and N200,000, respectively.

Globacom also awarded prizes to festival promotion winners. Five lucky subscribers received tricycles, ten received television sets, and ten others received grinding machines.

Oluwafunmilade Osotekun, a 19-year-old student at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, was crowned Miss Ojude Oba 2022 in the Ojude Oba Beauty Pageant. She won N150,000 in cash and Glo brand merchandise. Christiana Adenike Ogunwusi, 23, a student at Ogun State College of Health Technology in Ilese Ijebu, came in second place and won N100,000, while Ogunsanwo Nafisat Abisola, 23, a beautician, came in third place and won N50,000.
