TRAVKING____A Senior Special Assistant to Edo State Governor on Anti-Human Trafficking Issues, Solomon Okoduwa, yesterday raised the alarm over alleged threat to his life.

Okoduwa, who said that he had been trailed by strange men especially at night, also added that he had been receiving phone calls from unanimous callers, who warned him to “stop the arrest and campaign against traffickers in the state or be stopped.”

The SSA, who was said to have been vocal and aided security agencies in arresting and exposing the activities trafficking cartel in the state, however, he told newsmen in Benin, the state capital, that some gunmen had on Tuesday night trailed him to his residence in Benin, who fired gun at him.

Okoduwa, who noted that he was lucky to have narrowly escaped the attack by whiskers, recalled that after the failed attempt on his life, few hours later he received a call from unidentified caller warning him to desist from campaign against the traffickers.

He said: “Tuesday night after I managed to escape from their attack, I got a call through unknown number telling me that I should not talk about human trafficking. The guy who did not tell me his name further threatened me that if I refused to stop, they will stop me. The call has come now three times and it is strange.”

“I wonder why people would be angry for the selfless effort I am putting in to save the future of our girl-child. Why would they be threatening me to stop instead to encouraged me or join me to stop trafficking in our state?”

Meanwhile, he said the matter had been reported to the police in Benin, even as he appealed to state Commissioner of Police and other relevant security agencies to come to his protection as he could no longer move freely for fear of the marauding dare devils, who are after his life.
