TRACKING >Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide (OYC) has recommend a New Regional Security outfit with operation code name” Ogbunigwe”.

The proposal is coming after the South West unveiled its Regional Security outfit known as “Operation Amotekun” to curtail insecurity challenges in some parts of Southern Nigeria.

However, OYC, in a statement signed by its President General, Mazi okechukwu Isiguzoro, advocates for the creation of Ministry of Homeland Security across the South East, to coordinate the new Regional Security outfit, which is a non armed South East Regional Security outfits, that will assist in intelligence gathering for the National Security agents.

The group further stated that the proposed Ogbunigwe Outfit, will include Enugu Forest Guards, Ebonyi Neighborhood watch, Abia Homeland Security outfit, local vigilant groups, hunters and Community based Youth leaders.

Speaking further, OYC said, “the essence of the Regional Security outfit are the limitations facing the State owned security outfits who restricted to boundaries of their various States.

“We had observed Criminals and Suspected Herdsmen are taking the disadvantages and loopholes of lack of Uniformed Regional Security outfit in the South East to perpetuate heinous crimes against Igbos.

“Operation Ogbunigwe Regional Security outfit is at the mercy of the South East Governors forum and State House Assemblies in the South East ,as OYC will sponsor the bills in all State Assemblies.

“OYC laud the creation of Abia Ministry of Homeland Security, and warn detractors to stop tagging themselves enemies of peace, Urge igbos to Support Operation Ogbunigwe as South East Regional Security outfit for intelligence gathering and a non armed South East outfit”, the statement added.
