The Ondo State House of Assembly has vowed that it would reject the proposed bill seeking the removal of minimum wage from the exclusive legislative list.

The Assembly stated this on Thursday while assuring members of the organized labour on its stance on the bill.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Bamidele Oleyelogun who received a protest letter from the labour leaders to kick against the bill being sponsored by a lawmaker at the National Assembly said the bill if allowed to scale through will further impoverish workers in the country.

While pledging that lawmakers in the state will ensure that minimum wage is not put in the concurrent list, Oleyelogun, maintained that is not in the interest of Nigerian workers.

On his part, the State Chairman of NLC, Comrade Sunday Adeleye-Oluwole and his TUC counterpart, Comrade Helen Odofin said moving minimum wage to the concurrent list would lead to the slavery of Nigerian workers especially state and local government workers.

The labour leaders also pleaded with the state lawmakers to reject the bill if transmitted to Ondo state.
