Students of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State on Friday trooped out to protest the death of their colleague, Folarera Ademola.

Ademola, an ND1 student from the Department of Science Laboratory Technology was allegedly killed by an officer of the Amotekun Corps.

Following the incident, the state government has been given a 24-hour deadline by the protesting students.

The students are demanding that the Amotekun officer who fired the shots be handed over to the Nigeria Police for legal action, arrangement for the deceased’s burial, as well as compensation to his family.

The student was said to have been shot dead on June 27, in front of his parents’ home, according to Olorunda Oluwafemi, President of the Students’ Union.

The deceased, according to Oluwafemi, endured his gunshot wounds for ten days before being transported to the Federal Medical Center, Owo, where he gave up the ghost on Thursday.

Oluwafemi insisted that the protesting students will proceed from the school gate to the Palace of Olowo before continuing their demonstration to Amotekun’s office to further air their grievances.
