OP MESA agents kill a student in Ogun State while shooting at ‘Yahoo Boy.’

Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports.

Yesterday, ‘OP MESA’ security operatives killed an SS 2 Unity High School student in the Ago Ika area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

One of the OP MESA operatives shot the student, simply identified as Sadiat, as she walked out of the school grounds after finishing her day’s exams.

OP MESA agents were reportedly on the trail of a suspected internet fraudster, also known as “yahoo boys,” who had fled into the area to avoid arrest.

Security operatives allegedly shot directly at him while hacking him down, ignoring the presence of students exiting the school grounds and other passersby.

Sadiat, her mother’s only child, was declared “dead on arrival” at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Idi Aba, Abeokuta, where she had been rushed for treatment, while three other students and a commercial motorcyclist were also struck by stray bullets fired by the operatives.

Outraged by the news, Sadiat’s colleagues marched to the Enu-Gada Police Post in the area to protest their colleague’s death.

When the most senior police officer on duty issued a directive to disperse the students, the students allegedly began throwing stones, broken bottles, and other objects they could get their hands on.

However, the reinforcement security operatives who arrived at Enu Gada Police Post allegedly fueled the tension, causing the students to disperse, while passersby were arrested indiscriminately for either fueling the riot or filming the scene of the crisis.

Rafiu Ibrahim, an SS 1 student at the school, told reporters that security guards shot directly at the students, despite the fact that they were clearly in school uniform.

When contacted, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident but denied knowledge of the student’s death.

Oyeyemi went on to say that the security operatives were not chasing any “yahoo boy,” but a notorious cultist who was on the police’s wanted list.

Residents in the area, he explained, colluded with the suspected cultist and attempted to prevent security operatives from carrying out their lawful duties, necessitating the use of minimal force to scare the people away.
