The former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Uche Secondus, has hailed the emergence of Senator Ademola Adeleke as the Governor-elect of Osun State.

TrackNews had earlier reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared Adeleke as the winner of Saturday’s Osun governorship election.

Adeleke, the PDP candidate polled 403,371 votes to defeat the candidate of the All Progressives Congress and incumbent governor, Gboyega Oyetola, who gathered 375,027 votes.

Secondus in a statement on Sunday titled ‘Osun Decides: Secondus Congratulates Adeleke’, and signed by his spokesman, Ike Abonyi, congratulated Senator Adeleke on his well-deserved victory.

He said that the victory is a clear affirmation and demonstration of the people’s goodwill in appreciation of the efforts of the Adeleke family in the development of the state.

Secondus praised the Osun people for standing up for democracy through their determination to ensure that their votes counted.

He also commended the PDP 2023 Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, his Vice Presidential candidate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and other party members who contributed greatly to the sweet victory.

The statement partly read, “The former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Uche Secondus has congratulated Governor-elect Senator Ademola Adeleke on his well-deserved victory at the Saturday’s Osun state Governorship elections.

“Prince Secondus said that the victory is a clear affirmation and demonstration of the people’s goodwill in appreciation of the efforts of the Adeleke family in the development of the state.

“The former National also lavished praises for all those who contributed greatly to the sweet victory in particular, the PDP 2023 Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and his Vice Presidential candidate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

“Prince Secondus also praised the Osun people for standing up for democracy through their avowed determination to ensure that their votes counted.

“By this brave and courageous act, Osun people have shown their determination to take their collective destiny into their own hands and for this PDP and all lovers of democracy are proud of them.”
