Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports.

The Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chapter has stated that it will seek justice for the dismissal of its governorship candidate, Sheriff Oborevwori, through all legal means.

Sherrif Oborevwori was disqualified as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Delta State governorship candidate for the 2023 governorship elections on Thursday by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, according to TrackNews

Justice Taiwo Taiwo issued the ruling in a case brought before the court by Olorogun David Edevbie, who contested the election of Oborevwori, the State House of Assembly Speaker, as the PDP candidate.

Oborevwori, according to Edevbie, did not win a fair party primary election because the PDP violated both its constitution and the Electoral Guidelines

Dr Ifeanyi Osuoza, the PDP’s State Publicity Secretary in Delta, issued a statement urging its members to remain calm, saying the party will pursue the case further to obtain justice.

The PDP stated that it had received the federal high court’s decision but would study it before deciding whether to appeal.

According to a statement issued in Asaba, the state capital, “the party has received the judgment of an Abuja Federal High Court against our Gubernatorial Candidate, Sheriff Oborevwori, on the grounds of discrepancies.”

“We have already engaged our team of legal experts to critically study the ruling and explore grounds on which we can confidently approach the Court of Appeal.

“We want to, therefore, urge our teeming supporters and party faithful to remain calm, unperturbed and law-abiding.

“We assure them that we are quite confident in our conviction that justice will be done and we will get a judgement at the Appellate Court. There is no cause for alarm.”
