PDP chairman Secondus urges Buhari to work with governors in tackling insecurity

TRACKING>>President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged by the national president of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus, to work with state governors and relevant stakeholders in order to tackle the insecurity situation in the country.

The PDP national chairman gave the advice at a thanksgiving service in Port Harcourt, Rivers, on Saturday, May 25, Channels TV reports.

Tracknews.ng gathers that Secondus was in Port Harcourt with some members of the National Working Committee (NWC).

A statement by Secondus’ special adviser on media Ike Abonyi, read: “You cannot isolate the people you govern and expect to get the necessary cooperation and support needed to tackle issues like security.

“That’s why they must try to carry the state governors along if they hope to decisively tackle the security challenges.”

Meanwhile, Tracknews.ng previously reported that the All Progressive Congress (APC) described an attack of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on President Muhammadu Buhari as a ploy by the opposition party to “find a way back to the front page of newspapers”.

Lanre Issa-Onilu, the national spokesperson for the APC, while reacting to the comment by PDP chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, said the attack on the president was a ploy by the opposition party to make itself relevant again.

He said the ruling party would not take PDP and its leadership serious because APC had come to realise that Secondus and other leaders of the opposition party were still baffled by the reality of their defeat in the last general elections.

He said: “It would have been unnecessary for any response at all to come from us as the ruling party but I suspect that the national chairman of the PDP may have stumbled on one of the statements they wrote pre-election.

“Because it sounded more like some of those campaign materials that were not used or that have been used repeatedly; for which the voters passed a verdict in the last election.”
