The Peoples Democratic Party in Edo state on Friday, January 11, condemned the N7 billion allegedly allocated to Governor Godwin Obaseki for foreign trips in the state’s 2019 budget.

The Punch reports that Chief Dan Orbih, the state chairman of the PDP, made this known a during a campaign rally held in Ikpoba-Okha local government area of the state.

Orbih who described the travel allowance as a misplaced priority alleged that Obaseki embraced corruption under the guise of attracting foreign investors to the state in the face of worsening economic challenges.

According to him, “In this year alone, he (Obaseki) has provided N7bn for foreign trips. He says he is looking for foreign investors to come to the state.

”Obaseki) travelled to Malaysia, Indonesia, China, etc, looking for foreign investors and he came back with nothing.”
