PDP Crisis: I Won’t Resign From My Position – Secondus

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, has vowed not to resign from his position.

Recall that seven NWC members of the PDP resigned their position in protest over an alleged poor leadership of the party.

The seven deputy national officers accused Secondus of not carrying other NWC members along in the scheme of things, adding that they were also not comfortable working with Secondus due to the recent gale of defections of party bigwigs.

Also, nine members of the PDP’s NWC met on Sunday to extensively deliberate on the crisis rocking the main opposition party.

The NWC members felt that the Rivers-born politician has grossly mismanaged the party and described Secondus as highly incompetent.

They also claimed that he has factionalised the party and has lost the confidence of PDP members.

Also, the party caucus in the House of Representatives has asked the embattled National Chairman of the party to immediately resign from the party.

Reacting in a statement on Monday in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media, Ike Abonyi, the embattled PDP chairman said that he will remain focus and committed to the ideals of the party which he swore to protect and defend upon his election.

Secondus, however, asked those calling for his resignation should come clean on his offence.

The statement reads: “The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus has said that he will not resign his position.

“Prince Secondus said in a short statement from his media office that nothing so far warrants his resignation from the party position and those tiny minority calling for his resignation should come clean and tell party members across the country his offense why he should resign.

“He said he will remain focussed and committed to the ideals of the party which he swore to protect and defend upon his election to lead this great party 44 months ago.”
