Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, said yesterday that he was willing to meet with Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.

He made the remarks while fielding questions from journalists in Osogbo, Osun State.

When asked if the party was split into factions, Abubakar responded, “It is a social media drama.” Nothing compares to a Wike or Atiku camp. “There is a single PDP family.”

When asked if there was a plan to meet with Wike for reconciliation, Atiku responded, “Why not?” “I’m open to it.”

While noting that the party would overcome its current difficulties, the former vice president stated: “Some people become enraged when things do not go their way, and so on.” We will overcome this obstacle. I am confident that we will accomplish this.

The opposition party has been embroiled in squabbles since Abubakar named Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate for the 2023 presidential election.

Some party stakeholders, including Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, had expressed concern about Atiku’s decision to overlook Wike, who had been recommended for the position by the party’s national working committee (NWC).

Wike finished second in the party’s presidential primary election in May.

Abubakar recently stated that steps are being taken to address party members’ grievances.

“We are taking steps to address the concerns of all party members,” the former vice president stated.

“Our community’s unity is my top priority.” Our determination to unite Nigeria begins with our party, then moves to the community, and finally to society.”
