PDP Leadership Crisis: Secondus Behaving Like Someone Working For APC – SW Chair

Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja
LAGOS – Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, the South West chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has said that the national chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus, was behaving like someone who is working for the ruling party.

Arapaja lamented that Secondus was more concerned about returning as a chairman, and not worried about the future of the party, stressing that some people believe that if Secondus were still there, the party would be in trouble.

While reacting to the alleged crisis in the PDP with resignation of some national officers, the former deputy governor of Oyo State in a chat with Daily Independent, said that it is true that some Nigerians are worried about the state of the nation, stressing that there is no crisis in the PDP, rather the party is going through a sanitization process to reposition itself to win election in 2023.

He said, “Nigerians deserve to be worried because the manner that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is running the affairs of the country, is unthinkable, things are getting worse every day and this isn’t the kind of change that Nigerians desire. The party stakeholders decided that things have to be reorganized. There is no crisis in PDP. Secondus is the one causing the crisis because he doesn’t want to go. A majority has said that they don’t want him and he is supposed to have resigned. It is only in Nigeria that leaders want to sit tight whether they are performing or not.

“How can an opposition party lose three governors in three months? It is like him working for the opposition party that is the way some people see it. How can your governors be going and you are not bothered and you came on air to say that a governor has only one vote. He undermined the influence of the governors,” he said.
