The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has described the death of a former Deputy Senate President, Ibrahim Mantu, as a big blow which will be deeply felt by the party.

The PDP spokesman, National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, made this known in a statement to commiserate with the family of the late Senator, on Tuesday.

The statement reads, “Mantu’s death is indeed a big blow to our party, but we draw solace in the fact that he lived a fulfilled life and made impart in his calling as a patriot.

“Our party commiserates with the Mantu family, the PDP fold in Plateau state, the people of Plateau Central as well as the entire state. The PDP also prays for God to grant eternal rest to the faithful departed and to the bereaved, the fortitude to bear this huge loss,’’ Ologbodiyan added.”

Ologbondiyan also stated that because the PDP is mourning Mantu, who is one of its leading elders and a member of its Board of Trustee, the party has postponed the meeting of its National Working Committee (NWC) earlier billed for Tuesday to Wednesday in his honour.

Recall that the former principal officer of the 4th and the 5th Senate of the country took ill about nine weeks ago and was receiving treatment at home until he was rushed to the Diff hospital in Abuja, where he eventually passed on.
