Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

A reconciliation committee formed by the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) met with the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
According to Tracknews , the committee met with Abubakar on Wednesday at his Asokoro residence in Abuja, shortly after the BoT meeting at the PDP National Secretariat.

Earlier, during a press conference, BoT Chairman Walid Jibrin stated that all members of the BoT are members of the reconciliatory committee.

He stated. “The committee is the whole committee.” This includes all members of the BoT.
Jibrin said the committee would interface and try to resolve the acrimony taking place between Abubakar and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

He said. “The committee is the committee of the whole. This means all members of the BoT are part of the reconciliatory panel as well.

“We have set out, from this BoT, a committee to interface between warring factions particularly between the acrimony taking place between the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and Governor Wike and any other conflict that is taking place in the nation, within our party formation.”

Speaking further, Jibrin refused to state how long the panel will take to reconcile the aggrieved members.

“I cannot tell you the grievances and the duration but right now, we are heading to the candidate’s house in Asokoro to start this project.”

According to Track News, the formation of a reconciliatory committee comes amid a crisis in the party caused by Wike’s rage over the manner in which he lost the presidential primary to Atiku.

Wike and his supporters, including some state governors, are also upset that the former vice president chose Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate.
