– A mega rally will be held for All Progressives Congress defectors in November

– The Peoples Democratic Party will be holding the rally to formally receive the defectors

– Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa state made this disclosure

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will be holding a mega rally for defectors from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in November.

This was disclosed by Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa state, who said the rally would formally receive APC defectors like the managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Ndutimi Alaibe, The Sun reports.

TRACK NEWS gathers that Dickson received two former APC stalwarts, Chief Gideon Ekeuwei and Chief Rufus Abadi.

All Bayelsa politicians remaining in the APC were called upon by Governor Dickson to join the PDP.

The governor said: “I welcome you back home to your own party, which we all know that you are a founding member in this state. We are very happy to receive you all. I have been informed that this is a preliminary reception.

“A big rally is planned for next month to receive you and your teeming supporters and to give you all the assurance that PDP is home to all our people.

“For us, politics is about building, not destroying. It is about preserving life, not about killing or taking life, and not about making people miserable.

“If you are in the business of service to men, you are serving God also. We are not perfect but at all times, let it be seen that you are doing your best, trying to advance the well-being of the people of your community and your world. We are indeed happy to receive you.”

Meanwhile, TRACK NEWSpreviously reported that Tiwei Orunimighe, a former chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa, defected from the ruling party to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alongside no fewer than 5,000 supporters in the south-south state.

Orunimighe defected to the opposition party alongside a serving lawmaker in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Watson Belemote and ex-militant-turned politician, Africanus Ukparasia.
