PDP Will Welcome Obaseki With Open Hands If, Says Ogidi

TRACKING_____Chief Emmanuel Ogidi, National Vice Chairman, South-South of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday declared in Benin that the door of the party is opened to every person who wants to come.

Chief Ogidi was reacting to insinuations making the rounds in Edo State that the State Governor, Godwin Obaseki was already on his way to pick up the PDP governorship ticket following the adoption of direct primaries by his party, the APC.
According to him, “if Gov. Obaseki decides to decamp to the PDP today nobody has any right to stop him.

“If they come in, we will welcome them. Our doors are open to them and we will allow them in but if any of wants to contest any position they have to follow the party procedure because the party has a constitution.

“There is no automatic ticket for anybody no matter who you are or where you are coming from, you must follow the party procedures”.

Chief Ogidi who was in Edo State to meet with the newly elected State executive of the party however appealed to the President, Muhammadu Buhari to sign the electoral law as amended by the the National Assembly to avoid what happened in Bayelsa and Kogi states elections that were characterised by violence.

The PDP National Vice Chairman, South-South appealed to the Edo State executive to ensure that they reconcile all aggrieved members so as to work together to win the September governorship election.

Also speaking with journalists at the end of the meeting, Edo State Chairman of the party Dr. Tony Aziegbemi said that the party was poised to to reconcile all aggrieved members, saying, “we can only win the state governorship election if we come together as one”

“We have resolved to reconcile with everybody and we have reached out to those who contested with us and aggressived.

“We will do our best to get the party back to Osadebey Avenue and this is what we promised our people”
