Peter Obi Is Too Weak To Fight —Charly Boy Says As LP Candidate Backs Out Of Protest Over Alleged Election Rigging

Veteran Nigerian singer and songwriter, Charly Boy has said Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the last Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections is too weak to fight to reclaim his alleged stolen mandate.

It was earlier reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission declared Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of last Saturday’s presidential election…

But reacting to the outcome of the election in an audio conversation on Thursday, Charly Boy described the election as a “selection” and not “an election.”

Asked where he stood after INEC declared former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu as president, the songwriter said, “This is not an election, it is selection. But you know our man now (Peter Obi) he no want trouble (he does not want trouble) because these people are looking for slightest thing, either to destroy him or destroy more evidence and to kill more people.”

Asked whether he was referring to Obi or former President Olusegun Obasanjo as the person who did not want trouble, he said “Baba, yes plus our man also and that conversation was about three days ago.”

Charly Boy in an audio file obtained by SaharaReporters on Thursday confirmed a leaked audio conversation with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, asking him to rally Nigerians to protest against alleged rigging of Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.

Meanwhile, Charly Boy initially denied the audio conversation in an interview describing it as fake.

He insisted in a telephone conversation that his voice was doctored.

Peoples Gazette published the audio conversation between Charly Boy and former President Obasanjo, telling him that February 25, 2023, presidential election “was stolen.”

In the call, it was confirmed that former President Obasanjo told Charly Boy and Donald Duke to rally Nigerians in protest against the declaration of Bola Tinubu as the president-elect.

In an audio file later obtained by SaharaReporters, the veteran singer-songwriter confirmed having the conversation with the former president.

He noted that the conversation was made about three days earlier, but added that after Obasanjo considered the number of Nigerians that the current administration would kill, he later called back to stop the protest.

According to INEC official results, Tinubu beat Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi of the Labour Party who came second and third respectively, in the election.

The election was largely characterised by voter suppression, thuggery, and manipulation of results which led to the electoral umpire breaching its set out guidelines for the election, which stipulate that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), an electronic device designed to read Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and authenticate voters would be used for accreditation and uploading of the results of polling units.

However, that didn’t happen in the election as INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, said that they had hitches with the system.
