The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) continued its 25th anniversary celebration with a Youth and Women Day event held in Owerri, Imo State.
The ceremony featured key remarks from the NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, who announced a ₦5 billion counterpart fund to support youth entrepreneurs through the Niger Delta Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Trade, Mines, and Agriculture (NDCCITMA). He also unveiled plans to host a regional agricultural retreat with state governments and commissioners of agriculture across the Niger Delta.
The Chairman of the NDDC Governing Board, Mr. Chiedu Ebie, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to sustainable youth and women empowerment programmes. Also in attendance was the Chairman of the Senate Committee on NDDC, Senator Asuquo Ekpeyong, who praised the Commission’s development focus under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Keynote speaker, Dr. (Mrs.) Chinyere Uchenna Ordu, delivered a powerful message on gender equality and entrepreneurship, calling for more targeted opportunities for women and youth across the region.
The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Dr. Chinyere Ekomaru, who represented the state governor, commended NDDC’s collaboration with subnational governments and urged further partnership on infrastructure and development priorities.
