Track News Nigeria has learnt that Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, might come up with a new thing after regrouping with key PDP governors in London.
Track News Nigeria understands that the negotiations moves are taken shortly after the Governor of Ekiti State and Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), Kayode Fayemi, led Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos and Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, had a closed-door meeting with the Rivers State governor on Friday.
Following this, there have been speculations that the Rivers Governor may be decamping to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
However, Wike, who has not yet break the silence on his next move after he was jettisoned by the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubaker for the slot of the party’s vice-presidential candidate, met on Sunday with Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state for a strategy session ahead of the 2023 general elections.
A chieftain (under anonymity) told Track News Nigeria that Governor Ortom has been under deep pressure to persuade the Rivers State Governor not to withdraw his support for the PDP and the London meeting discussed the agenda.
