Big Brother Naija “Level Up” edition winner, Ijeoma Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has publicly accused Nigerian billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote and his company, the Dangote Group, of attempting to cover up a road accident involving one of their trucks that allegedly struck her sister.
Phyna made the allegations on Wednesday night, August 13, 2025, through a post on her Instagram page. She claimed that rather than prioritizing her sister’s welfare after the incident, Dangote’s company instructed the police to remove the plate number from the truck involved in the accident.
According to her, the decision to tamper with the truck’s identification raised serious concerns about the company’s intentions in handling the matter. She alleged that one of Dangote’s managers was scheduled to visit the police station the following day, rather than first checking on her sister’s condition in the hospital.
In her post, Phyna expressed frustration over what she described as the misuse of wealth and influence, stressing that money should not be used to evade responsibility. She warned that if the truck and its driver were released from police custody without due process, she would take further action.
“From all that has happened, you decided to rather tell the Nigerian police to remove the plate number on the truck that crushed my sister,” she wrote. “One of your managers is going to the station tomorrow. What happened to seeing my sister first? If that truck and your driver should leave that station, I will be right back. I’m attending to my sister first. Na money you get, you won’t be God. But my God is bigger enough, is enough.”
Phyna’s comments have sparked conversations online, with many social media users expressing sympathy for her family and demanding accountability from those involved in the incident. Others have called for a thorough investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the crash and whether there was any attempt to obstruct justice.
As of now, neither Aliko Dangote nor the Dangote Group has publicly responded to Phyna’s allegations. The Nigerian police have also not issued an official statement regarding the removal of the truck’s plate number or the current status of the driver.
The Dangote Group, a conglomerate with major operations in cement, sugar, salt, and other sectors, also maintains one of the largest fleets of trucks in the country. Accidents involving company vehicles have in the past drawn public attention, especially when linked to allegations of poor maintenance, reckless driving, or inadequate accountability measures.
Phyna, who rose to fame after winning the 2022 Big Brother Naija reality show, is known for her outspoken nature and has used her social media platforms to address personal and public issues. In this instance, she vowed to pursue justice for her sister, insisting that neither money nor influence should override the need for fairness and compassion.
The extent of her sister’s injuries has not yet been made public, but Phyna indicated that she remains in the hospital receiving treatment. She emphasized that her immediate priority was attending to her sister’s recovery while also warning that she would not allow the matter to be brushed aside.
The situation remains tense as the public awaits official clarification from the parties involved. Many Nigerians have urged both the authorities and Dangote’s company to handle the case transparently and ensure that justice is served.
