Police arrest cattle rustler, recover 21 cows in Gombe

A suspected cattle rustler has been apprehended by the Gombe State Police Command and 21 cows stolen from a herder in Shuwari village of Funakaye Local Government Area recovered.

Parading the suspect, identified as Kabo, Mahid Mu’azu Abubakar, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state said the owner of the cattle, Jauro Ahmadu, reported to the Bajoga Divisional Police office that his cattle, valued at N7 million, were stolen from his village.

The PPRO said in order to arrest the suspect, police personnel immediately swung into action and launched an investigation that led to the arrest.

He said the suspect has confessed to the crime and that all the stolen cows and other relevant exhibits have been recovered,

The suspect will be charged in court as soon as the investigation is concluded, said the PRO.

The police Division in Bajoga also arrested one Babangida Isah, 20, of Tike quarters in Bajoga town of Funakaye LGA, for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl (name withheld).

ASP Mahid Mu’azu Abubakar explained that the case was reported on June 6 to the police by the father of the victim and the suspect was immediately arrested and he voluntarily confessed to the crime
