Detectives of the Osun State Police Command have arrested a 24-year-old man, who specialises in breaking into shops in the Okefia area in Osogbo, the state capital. The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ishaq Muhammed, said the suspect identified as Damilola Oladele, burgled shops in the Agunbelewo area and stole valuable items.

He said the serial shop burglar was caught by men of the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS), who informed the policemen on surveillance patrol around the Osogbo metropolis. According to the police boss, the suspect was intercepted at Oke-Fia, roundabout Osogbo, with a big bag containing the items but could not give any satisfactory proof of ownership of them upon questioning.

The suspect was, however, taken to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad for discreet investigation and interrogation. In the course of investigations, it was discovered that the suspect had on different dates, burgled about 10 shops in Agunbelewo area of Osogbo and carted away items valued at N3 million. The police boss said the investigation revealed that the suspect who is living in the area solely carried out the crime in the shops and kept the items in his house.

Muhammed who said the suspect confessed to the crime and would be charged to court, warned criminal elements in the state to have a rethink or be ready to face the full weight of the Law.
